Rembrandt Van Rijn was born on July 15, 1606, in Leiden, the Netherlands. He was a great Dutch painter and etcher. His contributions to art came in Dutch Golden Age. Rembrandt was one of the greatest painters in European art history and the most import in Dutch history. He was influenced by the artworks of Caravaggio and was attracted by lots of other Italian artists.
Rembrandt Van Rijn shows knowledge of classical iconography in his works. He also gained the knowledge of anatomy in the anatomy theatre, which had a great impact on his artistic career. Lots of his paintings feature luxuriant brushwork, a mastery of chiaroscuro and rich color. What's more, his portraits, self-portraits and illustrations of scenes from the Bible are quite famous all around the world.
Rembrandt Van Rijn was also one of the great prophets of civilization for he always showed his empathy to the human condition.
